My name is Sarah, and I am raising funds for my younger sister, Maya. She is a dedicated preschool teacher, a loving mother of two, and the strongest person I know.On June 12, our lives changed in an instant. Maya went in for a routine checkup and left with a diagnosis of Stage 3 aggressive breast cancer. In a single afternoon, her focus shifted from lesson planning to fighting for her life. She has already started aggressive chemotherapy, which leaves her too exhausted to work. While she fights the physical battle, the medical bills and daily living expenses are piling up, creating an impossible financial burden

Operation Hunger is one of South Africa’s longest serving humanitarian and development organisations. Since 1980, we have partnered with vulnerable communities to combat hunger and malnutrition through practical, sustainable and community driven interventions. Our work is based on the understanding that hunger is not merely the absence of food. Food insecurity and malnutrition are closely linked to poverty, unemployment, limited resources and social vulnerability. Operation Hunger provides immediate support while helping communities build resilience and self-reliance through sustainable development initiatives.
